  • Releasing on wanting bad things!

Hello everyone. I have an inquiry here, and I hope that specialists and knowledgeable people of SM can answer. Is it right that one has also to releas on wanting bad things? For example, if someone is indulging in a bad habit, can one release on this bad habit or situation since these habits and situations originate from deep feelings? Am I right?

Releasing is not supposed to be something you have to do. So, don't tell the "someone" you talk about here he needs to release

"Someone" can use the tools of the SM to become free to do or not do a certain thing. In the process of releasing he/she will let go of the underlying emotions / motivation.

Oh, and say hello to "someone".

    Love,

    Jan

There is nothing that cannot be released, everything is mind construct on top of life, beingness and oneness.

A want is a want, weather it is a good or bad one (which is only perceived anyway, so you could throw away the tag of good or bad). Then release on it, and remember, to go that one step deeper, has it anything to do with wanting approval, control, security? Or wanting separation or oneness? The mind very often wants to say that a habit is BAD and so feeds the habit, which makes you feel worse and you beet yourself up on that. And to escape, you go back to the habit, just so this cycle keeps on going so you can beat yourself up again. It's the perfect excuse. The habit is only a belief anyway. This all leads to a greater sense of separation (you vs. the world more or less) which makes things seem rather difficult. Just release, but remember what Jan says - you don't HAVE to release anything. If there is resistance, allow it to be there and then see how that goes.

Sorry for the length of this post, this is as much for me as it is for you.

When I first began practicing releasing I would often ponder about questions such as the
one you posed. One time, I recall a man who had been practicing letting go for decades
brought about the interesting topic about how "the releasing questions" had nothing to
do really with changing our innermost beliefs, behaviors, tics, habits, etc. He mentioned
that it ultimately boiled down to forgiveness and opening to love. The releasing
questions served mostly as a vehicle for clearing out the clutter of the mind. It was
interesting how he shared that he had called people over at the SM to tell them this and
that the person on the other end of the line hemmed and hawed for a moment only to
finally say that this was true but they where running a bussiness and needed to market
the product from the "set-of-releasing-questions" because this was the only thing they
          could put a trademark on!
