  • A newcomer question

Hello from Montreal, Canada... I have started listening to the 20 cd and practice the releasing exercise. Hale talks about letting the feeling come up and he talks about welcoming pictures and sounds. My question is
Is it normal that all I feel is a weird feeling in my stomach. A little like when you're nervous about something. I don't feel anything else, no pictures, no sounds. Is it because I don't focus enough? Am I on the right track ?

Also, I would like to know what to do when I am in a group of person or with somebody and I have a feeling of panic. How can I release on the spot ? Is it possible ?

Thank you for your help !

    Hi Maggie,

thanks for posting - it's always helpful for everyone when we express what's going on for us.

about your question: it's perfectly normal to feel fysical sensations when you are releasing. In fact, it is a fine way to release, it means you are focussing and aware of the sensations.
And there is even no need to put a lable on it, that's the beauty of it.
Some people are ware of feelings, of thoughts, some of pictures and others of sensations. It also may vary from one release to another. And sometime or some people may feel it all at once.

Just welcome the sensations as best as you can, you don't need to force it, just allow it to be as it is in the moment.
Allow yourself to be with it.
Check if you want to do anything with the sensations, like making it go away, holding on to it, wanting to figure them out etc. If you are aware of a want, can you allow that want to be there, welcome it?
Check also if the sensations feel personal, like they are about you or who you are. Can you welcome that?

    How does it feel now?
Welcome any remaining sensations, as best as you can.
And repeat this triple welcoming cycle, until you feel peacefull, light, open etc.

Ofcourse you can also use the basic questions, (could you let go, would you, when).
And check if you find a underlying want, wanting control, approval, security, separation or oneness. If so, can you let go of that want, or part of that want?

About your second question, a feeling of panic: welcome anything you are aware of (that signals to you you are feeling panic), welcome your resistance to it (this is feeding it) and allow yourself to be with it as best as you can for a few seconds. Then switch to welcoming the peace that is inside you also - welcome that to your awareness. Go back and forth between those two 'states' (holistic releasing).

You can also experiment with switching to welcome the space that's around you and in you or welcoming any part of you that feels calm.

Welcoming these other states in awareness gives a sense of balance - you're no longer stuck to the feeling.

Allow yourself to explore what works best for you,
let us know how you are doing!

Thank you Clarie- This has helped me a lot. I have been reading posts here on the forum and it helps a lot to understand. Being french speaking, sometimes it is easier for me to read than listen although I must say that Hale speaks very well and not too fast. He is an excellent speaker.

I saw that you have taken the time to respond to a lot of questions on this forum Clarie. On behalf of myself and the others I would like to acknowledge this and thank you. This is very appreciated.
